The NSW SES Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Stakeholder Network has been established to support the objectives of the NSW SES Flood, Storm, and Tsunami: awareness and preparedness for NSW CALD Communities Project that commenced in 2022.
The project was implemented in recognition of the need to create more inclusive and meaningful risk awareness and preparedness communications so that all communities of New South Wales are equally aware of the natural hazards of flood, storm and tsunami.
We are working on new ways to communicate with multicultural communities with low or no English proficiency by developing a comprehensive suite of in-language communications material for 15 at - risk language groups.
An initial call for expressions of interest was circulated in January 2024, however not all language groups have been represented. To ensure membership is inclusive of all 15 language groups, we have re-opened submissions, seeking applicants from five specific language groups including: Greek, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, and Serbian.
